As we step into quarter 4 of 2024, we have seen many companies make a change in their tech department this year. Today, IT Executives Council will focus on 10 chief information officers (CIOs) or chief technology officers (CTOs) that have accepted new positions in September.

Air Force Names Jennifer Orozco as New Deputy CIO

Jennifer Orozco, a U.S. Air Force veteran with a career spanning almost three decades, has been chosen as the new deputy chief information officer for the Department of the Air Force. In her new role, Orozco will assist the CIO in overseeing the Enterprise Information Technology, Data and Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity directorates and managing the office’s $17 billion budget and 20,000 personnel worldwide.

Navy Names Barry Tanner as New Deputy CIO

The Department of the Navy Chief Information Officer (CIO) announced that Barry Tanner will serve as the next deputy CIO. Tanner previously spent nearly four years as the command operations officer at the Navy Program Executive Office for Digital and Enterprise Services. The new deputy CIO began his career in the Navy as a division officer in 1991. Tanner has spent a total of more than 30 years in the Navy, holding various cyber positions.

Grammarly Names Mark Schaaf as New CTO

Grammarly announced that Mark Schaaf, the former technology chief of Instacart, will be the new Chief Technology Officer.

First Watch Names Rob Conti as New CIO

Rob Conti

Rob Conti joined First Watch in 2019 and has over 25 years of experience overseeing technology solutions and services for various hospitality brands, including Hard Rock International and The Walt Disney Company. At First Watch, Conti is responsible for creating the company’s IT strategy and ensuring the success of technology initiatives and programs. In his previous position, he oversaw the rollout of key systems for the company, including the development of a business intelligence platform, cybersecurity program, pay-at-table tablets and kitchen display systems.

Aerospace Names Tameika Hollis as New VP and CIO

Aerospace has named Tameika Hollis as new vice president and CIO. Hollis joins Aerospace with more than 25 years of experience in senior executive roles in IT services and people management in the aerospace and defense industry. She has deep expertise in engineering, manufacturing and logistics, including oversight of cyber, intelligence, space, radar and electronic systems, as well as a broad background that spans global mission solutions, strategic services and program management.

Papa Johns Names Kevin Vasconi as New CTO

Kevin Vasconi joins his old Wendy’s boss, Todd Penegor, in leading the pizza chain as it looks to improve its value proposition and continue franchised growth. Kevin joined Papa Johns as chief digital and technology officer. Vasconi previously served as chief information officer at Wendy’s under Todd Penegor, who took the CEO role at Papa Johns last month.

University of Oklahoma Names Nishanth Rodrigues as New CIO

The University of Oklahoma recently named Nishanth Rodrigues as the new Chief Information Officer. Rodrigues brings 20 years of experience in strategic information technology (IT) leadership, administrative leadership and IT roles in health care.

SpartanNash Names Masiar Tayebi as New CIO

Masiar Tayebi

SpartanNash announced the promotion of Masiar Tayebit to EVP, chief strategy and information officer. Tayebi previously served as global head of corporate strategy and business development for Whirlpool Corporation. He also served as COO at Yummly, a grocery delivery platform owned by Whirlpool.

RHR International Names Brian Greenberg as New CIO

RHR International has appointed Brian Greenberg as CIO – leading the firm’s efforts to develop rigid cybersecurity protocols, enhance performance across all its systems and oversee risk analysis and mitigation. Greenberg brings more than thirty years of IT and senior leadership experience across various Fortune 500 organizations to the RHR team.

BHP Names Melanie Foster as New CIO

Melanie Foster

BHP, one of the North’s leading accountancy firms, has appointed Melanie Foster as its first Chief Information Officer, as the firm looks to harness the power of technology to support its clients’ objectives. Melanie, who has held a number of senior technology positions within the financial services sector, brings with her almost two decades of experience in technology innovation and integration.
