Carlyle Group, private-equity giant, names Lúcia Soares as CIO and head of technology transformation

Carlyle Group has named Lúcia Soares as chief information officer and head of technology transformation, a role that includes overseeing the $381 billion private-equity and investing firm’s internal information-technology systems, while advising IT leaders at hundreds of its portfolio companies.

Soares, a former vice president at Johnson & Johnson who has served as Carlyle’s CIO of global portfolio solutions since 2021, said working with tech chiefs at other companies is familiar territory. With the move, she plans to leverage insight gleaned from her experience with the firm’s portfolio companies—such as automation, data management and other tech strategies—into stepped-up efforts to optimize Carlyle’s own use of technology as its full-time CIO.

Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation recently announced that Raman Bukkapatnam has joined the Company as Chief Information Officer. His first day with the company was July 10, 2023. In his role, Bukkapatnam will be responsible for leading the enterprise’s global technology strategy, transformation, and modernization.

Discover announced Jason Strle as next CIO

Jason Strle will serve as Discover’s next chief information officer, joining the company July 18 as an executive vice president. Strle comes to Discover from Wells Fargo, where he served as EVP and group CIO of payments, virtual solutions, innovation, and community banking business units for nearly six years.

Stanford Medicine Children’s Health names Tanya Townsend new CIO, digital officer

Tanya Townsend was named chief information and digital officer of Palo Alto, Calif.-based Stanford Medicine Children’s Health. She will join the health system in September. In this role, Ms. Townsend will oversee Stanford Children’s digital transformation and technology-driven initiatives.

Kellogg Names Eric Firer New CIO of North America

Kellogg named Eric Firer its new CIO of North America. “Firer is a forward thinker with 22 years of IT leadership experience in the consumer packaged goods space and a proven track record of successful leadership, strategy planning, and execution,” a Kellogg spokesperson told CGT.

Accenture Names Rajendra Prasad as CIO and Assent Engineering Officer

Accenture has appointed Rajendra Prasad as company’s new chief information and asset engineering officer. In this new role, Prasad will oversee all internal technology development and support for Accenture systems and Accenture assets for clients.
