The latest CIO appointments highlight the rising importance of cybersecurity, AI readiness, modernization strategy, and cross-functional leadership as companies reassess how technology supports resilience, efficiency, and competitive positioning.

Today, IT Executives Council will focus on 10 CIOs and CTOs that accepted new positions in May 2026.

Chewy Appoints Yunyan Wang as New CTO

Yunyan Wang has left Amazon to become chief technology officer at Chewy, the leading online pet retailer. Wang spent more than 12 years at the Seattle-based tech giant, most recently as vice president of Commerce & Supply Chain Services.

BDO USA Appoints Jim Maza as CIO

BDO USA has appointed Jim Maza as its next chief information officer (CIO). Maza joins the company with more than 20 years’ experience directing large technology organizations and leading enterprise-wide transformation programs.

Xbox Announces Scott Van Vliet as CTO

Xbox CEO, Asha Sharma, has made further changes to the brand’s leadership team, appointing Scott Van Vliet as chief technology officer. Van Vliet had recently served as a corporate VP overseeing Azure AI infrastructure.

Kempower Names Sami Teininen as New CIO

Kempower has appointed Sami Teininen as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO) and a member of the global management team. Teininen joins from a similar role at Fastems and previously held several senior IT leadership positions at Nokian Tyres.

Peter Billiau is Named New IPC CIO
